Auxiliaries Contribute More Than $342,000 to The Village

July 3, 2019

The volunteer-run Auxiliaries of The Village for Families & Children have been supporting programs that help transform the lives of children and families for over 60 years. This year, the Glastonbury, Simsbury, Suffield and West Hartford Auxiliaries contributed more than $342,000 to The Village.

The Glastonbury Auxiliary contributed over $107,000, the Simsbury Auxiliary contributed a record-breaking $125,000 and the Suffield Auxiliary contributed $80,000. In addition to these Auxiliaries, our new West Hartford Auxiliary contributed $30,000 after being in existence for only five months.

The Village provides a full range of services for vulnerable children, adults and families in the Greater Hartford region, including outpatient mental health therapy, foster care and adoption, and financial classes.  The Auxiliary supports these activities and helps to accomplish The Village’s mission by selling new and gently used clothes, accessories, antiques and collectibles, and household items in its Second Chance Shops. The Glastonbury, Simsbury and Suffield Auxiliaries have contributed a total of more than $5.5 million to The Village over the past six decades – and the West Hartford Auxiliary just opened in January 2019.

“I am constantly amazed by the dedication of the over 400 volunteers that run our Glastonbury, Simsbury, Suffield and West Hartford Auxiliaries,” said Galo Rodriguez, The Village president and CEO. “They give their time, talent and heart to these Shops – and their tireless efforts make real change possible for the children and families served by The Village.”
