The Mid-Level Developmental Assessment (MLDA) provides a high quality, easily accessible developmental assessment of children ages 6 months to 6 years who are struggling within their home and/or school environment.
The MLDA is designed to help clinicians – and the family, school and medical providers – understand the child and family from a holistic perspective. MLDA provides a comprehensive clinical assessment and developmental testing, assessing all six domains of development: communication, cognitive, physical, adaptive, social/emotional and parenting.
Following the initial appointment and assessment session, a feedback session and an integrated family services plan is provided within 30 days.
The MLDA enables appropriate services to be provided in a timely fashion, before problems escalate, to address a family’s concerns and bring the child back to a normal developmental trajectory.

MLDA is available to children ages 6 months to 6 years residing in the Greater Hartford region. Clients can request the assessment directly or be referred by school/day care or medical care providers.
The family must commit to attending the comprehensive assessment appointment, developmental assessment appointment, and feedback session. Families will also be asked to provide authorizations to release and obtain information from pediatric providers, schools providers, and Birth to Three (if applicable).
To schedule an MLDA appointment, contact the Child Development Infoline, 1-800-505-7000, or The Village, 1-860-236-4511.
Once on the phone with one of the Access staff, the family should indicate that they would like a Mid Level Developmental Assessment. They will be asked demographic and insurance information, and will be given an appointment.
