Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), developed by Esther Deblinger, PhD, in collaboration with Drs. Judith Cohen and Anthony Mannarino, is an empirically supported treatment model that helps children overcome trauma related to abuse, violence and grief.
The focus is to assist the child or teen to develop coping strategies for traumatic stress reactions and to reduce symptoms of depression, anxiety or acting out behaviors. Treatment methods include traditional individual, family or group treatment, play and art therapy.
This treatment model is used in various Village programs, as part of the Collaborative Trauma Center.
