Backpack & Uniform Drive

You can make a difference.

Boxes of our backpacks for Hartford students, set to be distributed this week, were destroyed due to flooding from last week’s heavy rains and storm.

We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support in response to this unfortunate situation. The contributions we have received have covered the cost to replace the damaged backpacks.

However, the need for backpacks and additional supports for the thousands of children and families we serve each year extends beyond the loss of these backpacks, so there is still opportunity to help children and their families this school year.

Crisp school uniforms, shoes that fit, comfortable backpacks and many other supports are in high demand as students in Greater Hartford return to in-person learning this fall after a year of remote learning due to the pandemic.

Thank you for ensuring students we serve have what they need to succeed this year!

When it comes to mental health, many children aren’t getting the help they need—and the pandemic has made things worse. Some go without counseling while others remain apart from their families due to lack of in-home supports.

The Village joined other partners today to discuss this public health crisis among children. Our medical director, Dr. Laine Taylor, describes how The Village is doing what we can to advocate for solutions to address this pressing need.
