The beloved Yogi Berra said, “If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.”

Tammy agrees. She spends a good deal of her time at The Village helping to clarify where we’re going and creating a clear plan to get there. She also works to ensure that we have the resources to make that possible.

Tammy works with Hector, our president & CEO, and other members of the executive management team, and our Board Strategy Planning Committee, to meet our strategic goals, continually assess our progress toward those goals, and to redefine them as needed. When possible, she seeks external partnerships with organizations with similar missions and complementary expertise in order to strengthen and expand our work.

Nearly 40 percent of the funding for The Village’s programs and services comes from state and federal government. And in order to continue to improve our ability to help children and families become strong and stable, we continually enhance existing programs and develop new services.

Many people are involved in making that happen, but most notably Tammy. She provides leadership and support for the development of high-quality programming consistent with The Village’s mission, strategic direction, capacity, and brand promise, and for overseeing our proposals to large foundations and government agencies.

“I am at The Village to support a mission that I believe in,” says Tammy. “My goal is to make a meaningful contribution, leaving the organization (eventually) in some small way better off than I found it.”

Before joining The Village, Tammy was a member of the Connecticut Housing Coalition’s Housing Connections team, working in suburban and rural towns, helping local residents address the affordable housing needs of their communities. As director of health and safety programs in the New York Division of a multi-state human services and community development organization, now called PathStone, she provided leadership for a range of programs including HIV prevention and support, domestic violence intervention, and occupational safety services. And previously, she worked in community development with Michigan State University Extension; the State of Michigan’s early intervention system, Early On®; and the Head State Quality Research Center of the High/Scope Educational Research Foundation.

Tammy earned a master’s of social work, with a concentration in social policy and planning, from the University of Michigan and bachelor ‘s from Cornell University.

What is something unexpected that most people don’t know about you?
I collect Christmas trees from Starbucks stores. I have more than 10 years of trees.

What do you most want clients of The Village to know about you?
The Village clients, their needs and their feedback, are always part of my thinking when I consider funding opportunities and plan new initiatives.
