Thousands of Children in Need Open Gifts on Christmas Morning Thanks To Generous Donations

Village Holiday Giving Tree helps Hartford families during high inflation

December 25, 2022

Thousands of local children in need received gifts just in time for Christmas—along with food, clothing and other necessities—thanks to more than $30,000 in gift cards that were donated through The Village for Families & Children’s Holiday Giving Tree program.

The gift cards, donated by dozens of supporters, businesses and organizations, help families served by The Village purchase toys, food and other necessities, alleviating some financial strain as many continue grappling with high inflation.

“During the holidays, many families we serve face the dilemma of providing their basic needs—like food or rent—or purchasing gifts for their children. We believe that no family should have to make this choice and that all children should get to experience the magic of the holidays,” said Village President & CEO Galo Rodriguez. “We’re so grateful to all our partners and supporters who have helped make this holiday season so special for our families.”

This year’s Holiday Giving Tree donors include: AXA, Barings, Barnes & Noble Glastonbury, Be The One Foundation, Century 21, Cigna, Corenet Global, Dana & David Misorski, Delamar West Hartford, Empower, Eversource, Glastonbury Second Chance Shop, Goya Foods, The Hartford, Hartford Courant, Interscapes, Letisha Douglas, Light Up Ledyard, The Morris Group Simsbury Second Chance Shop, Squadron Line Elementary School, Starr Team at Keller Williams Legacy Partners, Suffield Second Chance Shop, University of Hartford, West Hartford Second Chance Shop.
