Dr. Peter Jacoby

Medical Director, Saint Mary's Hospital, Healogics Wound Center

Dr. Peter Jacoby is the Medical Director of the Healogics Wound Center at Saint Mary’s Hospital and the Past Chairman of Emergency Medicine at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Waterbury, Connecticut. During his active career in Emergency Medicine, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Traumatology and Emergency Medicine at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and in the Department of Medical Sciences at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University.

Dr. Jacoby has received numerous honors throughout his career, including the Phil Stent Award, presented annually to Connecticut’s Emergency Physician of the Year, the ACEP Council Meritorious Service Award, and the Collin C. Rorrie Award for his work in healthcare policy. He was also awarded the Frederic and Lucy Kellogg Award by the United Way of Greater Waterbury. In recognition of his contributions to the field, the American College of Emergency Physicians named him one of its “Heroes of Emergency Medicine” during its 40th anniversary celebration, and the Connecticut Hospital Association honored him as a “Healthcare Hero.”

A longtime leader in emergency medicine advocacy and policy, Dr. Jacoby served as Council Speaker of the American College of Emergency Physicians and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Emergency Medicine Political Action Committee. During his 13 years as chair, he helped raise more than $13 million in support of emergency medicine and healthcare initiatives nationwide. He was also the founding chair of the Waterbury Regional Chamber Health Care Council and a recipient of its leadership award.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dr. Jacoby has remained deeply involved in the community. He chaired the capital campaign for Founders Hall at Naugatuck Valley Community College, helping raise more than $1 million. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Wellmore, Inc. and the Naugatuck Valley Community College Foundation. He is also the past Chairman of the Palace Theater Board and Past President of the Trustees of the Connecticut Community Foundation.

Dr. Jacoby additionally volunteers as camp medical director for the Flanders Nature Center & Land Trust, the Waterbury Country Club, and the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Waterbury. His hobbies include travel, photography, and cooking. He and his wife, Kristen, reside in Woodbury.
