Derek Slap Named The Village’s New Vice President for Advancement

Derek Slap of West Hartford has been named as the new Vice President for Advancement at The Village for Families & Children. In this role, he will oversee communications, marketing and development for the organization.

Derek has a breadth of experience in marketing, communications and nonprofit advancement. Previously, Derek served as the President & CEO of the Connecticut Technology Council (CTC), where he focused on stewarding its members and engaging local business leaders. Prior to joining CTC, Derek served as Vice President of Marketing & Communications at the UConn Foundation. While at UConn, he helped to transform its digital fundraising operations and oversee the Foundation’s internal communications strategy.

Derek lives in West Hartford with his wife and three children, and represents the 5th senate district in Connecticut’s General Assembly. He earned his undergraduate degree from Syracuse University and a master’s degree in business administration from UConn.
