Ranked Top 10 in Employers of Its Size and Earns Distinction in Nine Categories for Positive Culture

The Village has been named a 2022 Top Workplace by The Hartford Courant, marking the organization’s third consecutive year receiving the award.

This year, The Village was again honored for its company culture, scoring in the top 25% in nine categories, including: clued-in employees, innovation, trusted leadership, employee appreciation, company direction, meaningful work, leaders in-the-know, strong values and open-mindedness.

“It is a great honor to receive this award for a third year in a row, and to be recognized for our commitment to both our staff and those we serve,” said Village President & CEO Galo Rodriguez. “The Village is a special place to work because it brings together incredible people and an inspiring cause. We focus on supporting our staff every day, and we’re always looking for new people to join our efforts.”

The awards are based on anonymous employee surveys that examine how employees feel their organization works together toward a common cause, as well as the company’s values, encouragement of new ideas, learning and development opportunities and commitment to diversity and equity efforts.

“I am developing personally in my profession while impacting the lives of those around me and the community we serve,” one Village employee said in their response, shared anonymously by the Hartford Courant.

This year, 61 organizations and businesses in Connecticut earned the Top Workplace distinction. About one-third of those are in same category as The Village, midsize (150-499 employees). Overall, nearly 1,300 employers in Connecticut were invited to participate in the survey after nominations.

The 2022 award marks The Village’s third consecutive year as a recipient in The Courant’s program: the fourth time in the last five years and seventh time in the last decade. In 2021, The Village was also one of only two non-profits in Connecticut to be awarded the first-ever National Top Workplaces Non-Profit Industry Award.
