State Comptroller Kevin Lembo Named 2019 Champions for Children by The Village

October 30, 2019

State Comptroller Kevin Lembo is The Village’s 2019 Champion for Children Award winner! The Village honored Kevin for his personal commitment to help individual children find stability, love and acceptance. He joined more than 100 of our most dedicated volunteers and supporters at The Village’s Annual Reception.

Champion for Children Spotlight

Kevin Lembo has been a lifelong advocate for children, families and public health. He is currently serving his second term as State Comptroller and has also served as Connecticut’s first State Healthcare Advocate.

His advocacy has focused on adoptive and foster families. In building his own family, Kevin and his spouse experienced the challenges of adoption first-hand, and he knew that he wanted to do something to help other families facing similar obstacles.

In addition to working in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families to raise awareness about foster care and adoption, Kevin has also advocated for parents and individuals affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Kevin and his spouse of more than 30 years, Charles, live in Guilford. They adopted and raised three sons and recently became licensed foster parents again to provide emergency care.

“I was part of something greater.”

Jazlyn shared her story about how the many professionals, agencies and “regular people” stepped up to help her when she was struggling. If not for the role that each of them played, her future might be completely different.

I was part of something greater from The Village.
