The Village, Staples Launch Back-to-School Drive

1,000 backpacks needed for Greater Hartford students by August 29

The Village for Families & Children launched a Back-to-School Drive today in partnership with Staples to help local families who are struggling to provide their children with the basic supplies—such as backpacks, pencils and uniforms—needed to start the school year.

The goal is to provide 1,000 backpacks for Greater Hartford students before the first day of school on August 29.

To help meet this need, The Village is accepting online donations throughout the month of August. Donations of school supplies or monetary gifts can also be made in person at Staples in Glastonbury, West Simsbury or West Hartford on Saturday, August 27 from 11:00am-1:00pm. Those who donate in person will also be entered to win a Staples gift card.
