When Juan came to The Village for help with his taxes, he was facing eviction, unemployment and the challenge of rebuilding a relationship with his 16-year-old child. Through The Village’s Fatherhood Engagement Services program, he found a community of support, encouragement and accountability. With help from staff, Juan cleared barriers from his past, secured a pardon and entered an electrical union apprenticeship. Five years later, he is a licensed electrician with his own apartment and plans to buy a home. Today, Juan says he is most proud of being a father, grandfather and mentor who inspires other men through his leadership and example.
“If it wasn’t for The Village and the Fatherhood Program, I don’t know where I’d be today.”
