Earlier this month, more than 120 golfers joined together for 18 holes of golf at The Village for Families & Children’s 9th Annual Foursomes for Fatherhood Golf Classic. Held at the premier TPC River Highlands golf course in Cromwell, the event generated $60,000 for The Village’s fatherhood programs.
“Joining this program was the best decision I ever made,” Marcus, a client of The Village, beamed as he spoke to the attendees. Although the room was packed, it was quiet as the audience intently listened to Marcus share his story about how The Village’s Fatherhood Engagement Services program helped him thrive as a single father of three young children.
He credits Don Crocker, the program’s supervisor, with teaching him to put his children first and providing him with a special brotherhood that has helped him grow as a man and a father.
“For years, this golf tournament has enabled us to continue to provide services to fathers – even when our federal grant ended,” said Hector Glynn, The Village’s COO. “For this, we are beyond grateful to each and every one of you who have supported this event year in and year out.”
A volunteer committee led the planning of this successful Golf Classic: Brian Reilly (chair), Andrew Baldassarre, Thomas Byrne, Thomas Daugherty, and Larry Gavrich.
Thank you to everyone who attended for their support, and a special thank you to the generous sponsors who made this event possible:
