On a broad scale, Jennifer is responsible for providing clinical guidance, leadership and support to staff using evidence based approaches to treat children affected by trauma. She also develops and implements program policies – contributing to program innovation – and facilitates interactions between program staff and other professionals, community collaborators, and parents.

More directly, Jennifer oversees the clinical and administrative management of Alison Gill Lodge, a therapeutic group home for females ages 14-21 years, and the Intensive Community Program, a hybrid short-term residential treatment and community-based program for male and female adolescents ages 13-18.

“Working at The Village allows me countless opportunities daily, to touch the lives of individuals in meaningful and enduring ways,” says Jennifer.

Jennifer has served in numerous roles for The Village, including clinical program director for Alison Gill Lodge and the former Shelter for Women-Gray Lodge, which became part of The Village in 2010. Previously, she served as director of clinical services for Saint Agnes Family Center, a therapeutic group home for pregnant and parenting female adolescents in West Hartford, and program administrator for Grand Bahamas Children’s Home, long-term placement for children removed from their home.

Jennifer is a licensed clinical social worker in Connecticut and Massachusetts, and a licensed psychologist in New York State. She earned a doctorate in clinical psychology from Walden University in Minneapolis, MN, a master’s in social work from UConn and a bachelor’s in sociology and social welfare from Saint Augustine College in Raleigh, NC.

As an expert in the impact of trauma, effective methods of treatment and adolescent development, Jennifer is a valued member of the management team.

What quote best captures your personal philosophy?
“Always do the best you can, where you are, with what you have now.”

What is something unexpected that most people don’t know about you?
I believe in paying it forward, and two ways I do this is through my volunteer efforts at my church, Grace Episcopal monthly free lunch and through my presidency of E O Smith Girls track and field booster club.

What do you most want clients of The Village to know about you?
I have been working with children and families for over 20 years and I still get excited about helping clients reach their optimal potential.
