Our Words Count program, offered through Stronger Families Stronger Futures Prenatal and Early Childhood Home Visiting Network, is a parent-directed, play-based program that provides you with support to increase your child’s vocabulary and enhance their conversational abilities. It is the first of its kind in Connecticut to use the industry standard LENA System™ (Language Environment Analysis) to count and measure the amount of adult spoken words a child hears, and the amount of conversations the child has with adults.
Services include:
- In-home and community-based coaching sessions with a literary specialist
- Check-in calls to encourage and support you as you practice new techniques and behaviors
- Connections to available local resources to continue your child’s development of language and literacy skills
